It's been an exciting few months at Stratcom Branding with our new website going live, a couple of exciting client projects as well as the launch of our CSR initiative,  the 'Sisonke Design Sprint'.

In South Africa, the first compostable shopping bags were released in celebration of "Plastic Free July". The pressure from conscious consumers for recyclable packaging is bound to intensify and all eyes are on the big brands to see who will be the first to rise to the challenge.

Globally we saw FIFA World Cup fever hit the shelves with limited-edition packaging and Coca-Cola Turkey’s innovative decorative use of thermochromic inks in their summer campaign.

Client Project: Beeno

Beeno is the leading S.A. brand in the pet treats market.

To improve market share we were briefed to take this legend to the next level on shelf, refresh shelf real estate, with a clear navigational strategy. Current consumers were to be retained and new consumers to be recruited.

Stratcom Branding initiated the project with investigation through a visual audit in order to connect with what was in the market unpack opportunities and enable the innovation growth.

The creative followed strategy on this vast portfolio, including Motherbrand real estate, segment drivers and product benefits.

Mandela Day - Sisonke Design Sprint

It's no secret – when small businesses succeed, communities thrive.

Mandela Day 2018 sees the launch of the Stratcom Branding ‘Sisonke Design Sprint’ initiative. With Sisonke meaning “We’re together” or “Coming Together”, Stratcom Branding challenges other Small Medium and Macro Enterprises (SMME’s) to match this drive to work together to share skills with 100 percent black-owned start-ups.

Stratcom Branding – an SMME brand, packaging and design specialist agency of 23 years - will identify outstanding black entrepeneurs, their companies and brands through an application and selection basis to partner with them, through the design of their branded packaging to an award-winning level.

Strategic and highly creative, regionally relevant designed packaging sells products, a luxury many start-ups pass off, due to lack of resources.

Harnessing the evolutionary power of smart packaging in Africa

For the last few years, packaging industry professionals have been curious about the future of smart packaging. Whilst barcodes and quick-response (QR) codes were once considered the "next big thing" in packaging, the acceleration of technology is transforming smart packaging that needs to fit in with the modern-day consumer purchasing habits.

Stay woke or get left behind

The world is in constant flux and revolution. This has been aided by the increase of globalisation through the internet. Where 30 years ago the international community needed Oliver Tambo to tell them about Apartheid, today, it takes one tweet to raise viral awareness. From the effect of hashtags like #ArabSpring, #BlackLivesMatter, #BlackGirlMagic, #BlackExcellence, #MeToo and the like, it is clear that the “woke” revolution cannot be ignored by brands and by the global community we live in.
